It also plays a strategic role in the handling of goods destined for the nearby business park. It consists of two docks: the West Pier, serving the industrial area of the port, and the Levante pier, closer to the town, and intended for ferries. The area between the two piers is dedicated to pleasure craft (with about 650 berths)and to shipbuilding and related services. The port is especially popular among travelers seeking nature-oriented and less crowded destinations. Ferries from Arbatax mainly operate towards Civitavecchia.
